my scarecrow family

meet my scarecrow family.
they welcome our visitors and trick-or-treaters each fall.

here's mr. and mrs. p. check out mrs. p's 1950's apron and wooden spoon hands ready to tackle anything in the kitchen (and notice her slightly frazzled hair!).

meet the children, ben, max and lily. they're so cute at this age...

the boys have cute little hose nozzle noses (say that three times fast)
and garden tool hands

lily wants to be a baker just like her mom

i'm definitely feeling fall right now and can't wait to get the rest of the decorations out. have you started your fall decorating yet?

back-to-school social

i recently co-hosted a back-to-school social with a photographer friend of mine for our friends and neighbors. it was a fun way to introduce my friend, alison's, recently launched business - sassafras photography. she took all the beautiful photographs that day.

we wanted a vintage school feel to the social. here is the invitation found on etsy.

i used some black & white washi tape and red & white office labels to pretty up the envelope

the great cousin camp out

i am finally posting some pictures of the great cousin camp out dessert table and favors. i know all of you were on pins and needles waiting for them!

each cousin received an orange burlap favor bag with a cute tag that matched the invitation.
the bag contained a pennsylvania "field notes" book, pencil, boston baked beans candy and a mini s'mores kit.

the dessert table included a vintage tackle box with various candies (swedish fish, jelly bellies, sardine-shaped chocolates, boston baked beans and chocolate rocks) and cookies by sugarlily. i also made some "white trash" (aka sweet chex mix) and served it in paper cones. there were also mini s'mores pies made-to-order ...aren't they cute?

the back drop included a baby picture and a recent picture of each cousin. their ages range from 6-18 and they all really enjoyed seeing how much they have grown.
there were lots of giggles! the vintage camp chair and minnow bucket are from my own collection. i found the adorable twig letters here. these letters would make a great gift for a little girl's birthday.

the cousins cherish their time together. i hope this is a tradition carried on for a long, long time.
